RS Wrapdesign uses polymeric and cast adhesives that allow for slight deformation, conformability to the shapes of bodywork and hulls, and long-lasting durability. The adhesives offered consist of a multi-layered, 80-micron cast PVC specifically designed for wrapping boat or vehicle hulls.

What should I do if the surface is scratched and/or damaged?

Scratched or damaged areas must be prepared and/or repaired beforehand. Adhesive won't cover imperfections; everything will be visible.

Can I put a sticker on a wooden (unpainted) case or on unpainted plastic?

These are non-polar surfaces, so it won't adhere. They must be varnished, painted, or gel-coated surfaces.

How to easily remove old adhesive?

As it ages, vinyl exposed to UV rays and moonlight becomes brittle. In this case, simply warm it with a hairdryer or heat gun to soften it. Lift a section of the adhesive and peel it off with a utility knife, then thoroughly clean the surface with a degreasing product.

How do you clean adhesives? Are there any special precautions to take?

Maintenance is the same as for a painted surface. However, do not use a pressure washer closer than 50 cm, as this could damage your decoration. We recommend using pH-neutral cleaning products and avoiding the application of polish or wax.

Are there any traces left when the adhesive is removed?

The films are designed to be removed. Slight adhesive residues may remain, but these can be easily removed with degreasing products such as white spirit or methylated spirits.

What are the ideal conditions for applying a sticker?

The best conditions are between 18°C ​​and 25°C; avoid temperatures below 10°C, as the adhesive becomes brittle. At these temperatures, the adhesive bond is optimal after 24 hours. Avoid using a pressure washer or cleaning the area before this time. This is called polymerization.

Should I dampen the surface before applying my sticker to avoid those dreaded bubbles?

Normally, this is unnecessary. The small bubbles will disappear over time as the adhesive tightens. If you wish to work with water, you must spray soapy water (a little dish soap in half a liter of water) onto the surface and the adhesive side of the sticker. Then, place the sticker on the surface and smooth out the water with a squeegee, working from the center outwards, initially without pressing, then more firmly. When applying with water, you must wait for the transfer film to dry completely before removing it (being careful to leave the sticker in place).

When dry, the adhesive is not repositionable; it may lose its stickiness or simply tear, so it's important to take your time marking the positions, but it's quite easy to do. You just need to take your time.

What preparation is required for the substrate?

The adhesives can be applied to any smooth, clean, and dry surface. It is recommended to clean the surface with a soft cloth and a degreaser just before application and allow it to dry completely. CAUTION: Gasoline, white spirit, or WD-40-type products should not be used, as these are greasy substances that prevent the adhesive from bonding. Isopropyl alcohol is the best option.
